Cheesy children

Confusing names tend to be misspelled.

Abby Reynado’s teacher thought that her name in the class attendance sheet was wrongly spelled so she changed its middle letter “c” to “o.”

When the teacher called the name of the student, she was surprised that “Abcde” was a girl and that she had misspelled Abcde’s name. Abby’s name is really spelled as the first five letters of the alphabet.

Abcde’s parents, Florina and Rita Reynado said they decided to name their children after the letters of the alphabet to be unique, GMA News reported. Abcde’s siblings are Ghij and Xyza.

The “alphabet” children are not related to Abcde Aeiou Mendoza who was recently featured on the noontime TV show “Eat Bulaga” together with other guests with amusing names.

One of the guests, Spaghetti ‘88 Pascual, shared how she was bullied at school because of her name. Spaghetti ‘88 said she always had to explain her name and had a hard time getting a government ID as the number “88,” her year of birth, was not acceptable before.

Pascual’s parents, Senando and Flor, may have been inspired by the ubiquitous Filipino party food in naming their middle child. But if the name of Spaghetti ‘88’s elder sibling is an indication, it seems the parents really love pasta. The eldest child is Macaroni ‘85. Only the youngest has a non-pasta name, Sincerely Yours ‘98.

Spaghetti ‘88 herself has a taste for unique names. As spaghetti is commonly served with sandwiches, she named her own two children Cheese Pimiento and Parmesan Cheese.

And when the currently pregnant Spaghetti ‘88’s youngest is born, she said the baby will be named Mozzarella Cheese.
