NDRRMC logs Holy Week mishaps

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has recorded injuries, vehicular accidents, and food poisoning during the recent observance of the Holy Week.

In NDRRMC’s latest report, three vehicular accidents were logged in the Ilocos region and one in Northern Mindanao.

One of the accidents involve a big bike and a sidecar or “kurong-kurong” in Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur on 3 April, leaving five teenagers injured.

A kalesa in Vigan, Ilocos Sur carrying tourists figured in an accident. Frontliners were able to assist the tourists.

A car run into a motorcycle in Rosario, Pangasinan on 5 April and the victim sustained multiple abrasions and back pain. Other accidents were reported in Maramag, Bukidnon, and Tagudin, Ilocos Sur.

Food poisoning was also recorded in the Ilocos region while seven injuries have been logged in Northern Mindanao.

NDRRMC executive director and Office of the Civil Defense Administrator, Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno, earlier reminded the public to keep safety in mind while observing the Holy Week.
