Qualified sperm donors are those who have no genetic defects that cause debilitating or paralyzing diseases. Sperm banks stringently screen semen donors and only sell the best sperm to infertile parents desiring to have children.
Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui, however, has collected a different kind of sperm and egg, those coming from donors who were not immunized from Covid-19. He believes and pitches that vaccines against the coronavirus cause infertility and the human race’s survival depends on sperm and eggs not tainted with such serums.
“We will auction off the best sperm and eggs, including of course my own sperm,” Guo said in a February live stream, Agence France-Presse reported.
Despite being recently arrested in the United States for alleged fraud, he organized the June online bidding of nearly 6,000 eggs and a “few million sperm,” donated by his unvaccinated supporters, on the Gettr platform, according to AFP. The sperm and eggs can be bought with digital currencies by any bidder, regardless of race and ethnicity.
So far, authorities are not stopping Guo from conducting the auction, nor discouraged the public from participating in it.
Meanwhile, a prolific Dutch sperm donor is being sued by at least 25 mothers who bought his sperm to bear children.
The DonorKind Foundation, a Dutch organization that defends the rights of children of sperm donors, filed the lawsuit against Jonathan Jacob Meijer, 41, to stop him from further donating to sperm banks, New York Post reported.
Meijer is accused of violating donor guidelines limiting him to 25 offspring and 12 recipients. Blacklisted since 2017, he reportedly fathered as many as 102 children in the Netherlands and is now based in Kenya but continues to donate in other countries by using pseudonyms, according to NYP.
The foundation believes that Meijer, as he allegedly confessed to one of the mothers, may have fathered as many as 500 children. The kids are exposed to the risk of incest or inbreeding if they procreate among themselves not knowing that they are relatives.
