Shroud sees potential in Counter-Strike 2

Popular streamer and former professional player Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek is convinced that Counter-Strike 2 can dominate the entire video gaming scene if its developer Valve can get a few things right.

CS 2 is the sequel to the ever-popular first-person shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which came out in 2012.

Although the game is more than a decade old, it never lost its hardcore playerbase and is still going strong to this day.

“If Counter-Strike 2 does not work on their matchmaking system and their rank system and all that sh-t, and it’s just the same as CS GO, I am going to be so upset,” Shroud said during a live stream on Twitch.

“It would not matter, because people are still going to play the game anyway because it’s Counter-Strike, who cares about that, right? But Counter-Strike is in the spot where it can literally take over. Everything and everyone. It can probably have five million concurrent players on average.”

After more than 10 years of waiting, Valve is ready to release the next Counter-Strike franchise with CS 2, which is set for official release in the United States later this year.

To make the experience even better for its loyal playerbase, all skins and cosmetics from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be carried over to CS 2 similar to what Blizzard Entertainment did with Overwatch 2.

Shroud, who has 10.5 million followers on the world’s leading live streaming platform Twitch, is highly respected for his thoughts on the FPS (first-person shooter) genre.

He is a former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player for Cloud 9 before transitioning to the Valorant competitive scene last year to play for North American powerhouse Sentinels.
