People are brought together for different reasons. Sometimes you choose your pack, but there are also serendipitous occasions when you are the one who gets chosen. No doubt, we are unique individuals who are designed with our very own custom blueprint. But we are also malleable beings through common values and concerns that we are strongly passionate about.
We may not go out of our way to campaign for our ideals, but somehow, our kind of people manage to find us. Just like how I found myself working with the amazing women behind Mano Amiga Academy — a non
-government organization that focuses on providing quality education to underprivileged communities.
Our main purpose for coming together was to raise funds through an art auction where all proceeds would be utilized for the benefit of promising scholars of the Mano Amiga Academy.
My dear friend, Pam Begre, served as the key magnet who pulled us together toward doing our part for this notable cause. She was always one to generously shower me with praises for the work that I do.
Pam invited a handful of us to volunteer our expertise into the project. I was asked to help mount the event, for which I teamed up with a strong group of empowering women.
Reena Gabriel, a lovely artist and seasoned events planner, designed the branding of the event and created all of our digital graphic assets. Tanya Aguila, new mom and founder of One Life Studio, shared her marketing genius. Erica Jacinto, a ballet director (a Prima Ballerina herself) who mounts corporate events and runs a freight company, offered her amazing talent in photography. Leona Panutat, style maven and interior design guru, and Jacque Atilano who handles an insurance and investments firm while fulfilling her executive MBA with monthly back and forth from Cambridge to Manila, have done an amazing job curating the works of art featured in both online and onsite art auction spaces.
Then there are the amazing women of the Mano Amiga Academy, co-founder and executive director Lynn Pinugu and head of Operations and Business Development Avi Brucellas. With their perfect combination of hard work and magical powers of making things happen, “Art for the Heart: An Auction for the Scholars of Mano Amiga Academy” came to life.
