Bong Go assists indigents, attends Pasalamat Festival in Negros Occidental

Sen. Bong Go distributed aid to indigent residents after attending the 41st Pasalamat Festival held in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, 30 April.

During the event, Go was warmly welcomed by hundreds of residents as he took part in a short float parade. The procession headed to the public plaza, where the senator delivered his message.

In his speech, Go expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he received from the people of La Carlota City, saying, “Salamat sa inyong lahat sa pag-imbita sa akin dito, sa inyong mainit na pagtanggap sa akin dito sa La Carlota.”

“Basta ako po ang inyong Kuya Bong Go, kalabitin n’yo lang po ako anytime. Nandirito po ako na handang magserbiso sa inyong lahat sa abot ng aking makakaya lalung-lalo na po sa mga mahihirap, nandirito po ako,” he added.

Go also addressed the youth, urging them to stay away from illegal drugs and instead focus on sports as a means of self-improvement. He stressed the importance of continuing the efforts initiated by former president Rodrigo Duterte to ensure a better future for the younger generation.

“As chairman po ng Committee on Sports, gusto ko pong ilayo ang mga kabataan sa ilegal na droga. Get into sports, stay away from drugs,” he reminded them.

During the event, Go expressed gratitude to local officials such as Negros Occidental 4th District Representative Juliet Ferrer, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, and La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalandoon for their dedication to serving their respective communities. Prior to the event, Go had enjoyed a luncheon with the vice governor, mayors, vice mayors, and councilors from Negros Occidental.

Following his attendance in the festival, Go and his team distributed assistance to 1,000 indigent residents at the La Carlota gym.

They distributed food packs, masks, vitamins, and snacks to the residents. Select beneficiaries also received bicycles, cellular phones, shoes, watches, shirts, and balls for basketball and volleyball.

Meanwhile, the residents also received financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
