Billion-Dollar party tip #1: Keep it classic. This most special of parties was held at the Violagos’ iconic mansion in North Forbes Park to celebrate Oscar’s extraordinary 80 years. The guest list? Family, old friends, VIPs, diplomats, and VVIPs of the social, business and political worlds. My hubby and I are no stranger to Oscar’s warm welcome because he always opens his home when there’s a cause for celebration. It’s classic Oscar! Inside was the familiar sight of the mansion’s opulent interiors highlighted by priceless art works. But for tonight, tastefully decorated tables and a “stage” stood front and center creating the quintessential party space. Another classic element: colored lights dancing along to the beat of throwback tunes. Essentials so we can shake our groove things!

Billion-Dollar party tip #2: Splurge on quality. Runner-up tip would be “cups should never runeth empty” and I’m sure many would agree! Either way, it’s worth noting that while we took to timeless party elements, they were done impeccably. Amazing food, live music, and bottles of only the finest booze filled every glass — never running out! Excellent elements to any fine night for sure.

Billion-Dollar party tip #3: Cherish people who matter. If there’s one thing that characterizes Oscar’s annual parties, it’s the number of people who show up for him on this day! His number one fans, of course, are in his family. You can tell just by the touching words from his son, AJ, how much his family loves, honors and admires him. My hubby is also a testament to the kind of man Oscar is. They were classmates back in high school and college, and have turned lifelong amigos. Plus not many people can say the President of the country sent them a video greeting for their respective birthdays. Iconic indeed! Happiest of birthdays indeed to a man rich in success, wisdom, and relationships. Now that’s how you turn 80 with style, aplomb and endless cheer!
