Kapamilya actor Daniel Padilla has been nominated in the Outstanding Asian Star category at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2023. His talent agency, Star Magic, made the announcement last Friday.
Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel’s girlfriend, had earlier been announced as a contender in the same category. KathNiel will now be competing against talented acts from across Asia.
Along with Barbie Forteza, Julie Anne San Jose and Dennis Trillo, who were recognized for their work in the blockbuster drama Maria Clara at Ibarra, Daniel and Kathryn were nominated for their outstanding performances in the hit series 2 Good 2 Be True.
Renowned Asian performers like Lee Je-hoon, Park Eun-bin, Yoona, Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo from South Korea are among the nominees for the SDA 2023. Other strong competitors for the coveted prize include Lai Guan-lin, Dylan Wang, Yu Shuxin, Nickhun, Vivian Sung, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Kento Yamazaki.
The ‘Idolchamp’ voting app will allow Daniel’s fans to cast their ballots for him. This platform’s voting period, which was developed by TNK Factory and MBC Plus, will run from 15 June to 14 July.
The SDA 2023 has included a brand-new category named the Idolchamp Artist Award in addition to the Outstanding Asian Star Award. This category aims to recognize K-pop’s popularity on the global scene, with Girls’ Generation, ENHYPEN and PENTAGON among those receiving nominations in the category.
The 18th anniversary of the Seoul International Drama Awards will be celebrated this year. The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea are among the event’s sponsors.
Numerous Filipino artists have been recognized and honored by the prestigious awards over the years, including Dennis Trillo, Belle Mariano, Alden Richards and Dingdong Dantes.
Daniel Padilla will next star in three films, according to a report by ABS-CBN News: The comedy Nang Mapagod si Kamatayan, the psychological suspense-thriller The Guest and his and Kathryn’s reunion film with director Cathy Garcia-Molina.
