The Diamond Hotel’s Asian Food Festival, which will run from 15 to 17 and 19 to 25 June, promises a wide selection of mouthwatering meals with a variety of key ingredients, unique sauces, cooking methods and side dishes.
Executive chef Ooi In Jin and his team of talented chefs will showcase their mastery of cuisines from various Asian countries.
Chef Yang Yong will represent China; chef Roel Pollero will present flavors from India; chef Hiroshi Masuda will enchant with dishes from Japan and Korea; and chef Ooi In Jin will bring the taste of Malaysia.
Chef Mon Luyao will prepare delightful Vietnamese delicacies; chef Deo De Guzman will showcase the vibrant flavors of Thailand; and chef Ramon Quilon will highlight the best of the Philippines.
Chef Ooi In Jin boasts an impressive culinary background, excelling in Southeast Asian, Chinese and Continental cuisines.
When asked about his secret for keeping food flavorful and authentic, he underlined the value of using high-quality ingredients, some of which are freeze-dried to maintain their freshness.
Ooi In Jin held the post of executive chef before joining Diamond Hotel in prestigious hotels belonging to a well-known hotel chain with locations in Taiwan, Wuhan and Guilan. Chef Ooi In Jin brings a variety of culinary skills to the table with years of experience working in hotels in China, Penang and Melaka.
The Japanese chef Hiroshi Masuda, meanwhile, refined his abilities in prestigious hotels in Bangkok, Dusseldorf, Guangzhou, Moscow, Dubai, and Osaka as well as in the airline catering industry. He worked at Cathay Pacific Catering Service in Hong Kong as the Japanese Executive Chef before joining Diamond Hotel. Chef Hiroshi Masuda is skilled at planning menus, estimating costs and developing new dishes because he is knowledgeable in both traditional and modern Japanese cuisines. He takes satisfaction in having served his wonderful cuisine to royals from Abu Dhabi and Germany.
A tempting range of foods is promised at the Asian Food Festival. Ayam Goreng Istimewa (Malaysia), Baraisee Pork Shoulder with Pineapple in Turmeric Curry, Baked Mussel with Sambal Mayo and Sauteed Eggplant (Bali) and exquisite fish Kare Kare are just a few of the tasty meals on the menu.
Western influences may be found in dishes like Tumis Lidah Cabe Ijo, Red Curry Beef Cheek with Eggplant and Ca Hoi Kho, while Chinese cuisine options such Inner Mongolia Roast Beef with Wrapper and Chili Crab (Singapore) are available.
