DPWH Bataan kicks off ‘Coast Guard’ road project

Abucay, Bataan — The Department of Public Works and Highways has started the construction of a seven-kilometer road worth P100 million that would provide better access to the Coast Guard Antennae in Barangay Capitangan of this town.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the seven-kilometer road link was led by Senator Joel Villanueva, Bataan Governor Jose Enrique “Joet” Sandejas Garcia III, Abucay Mayor Robin C. Tagle, and District Engineer Erlindo R. Flores Jr. and was witnessed by local residents.

According to Flores, the P100-million budget came from the 2023 General Appropriations Act, citing that the project aims to enhance travel efficiency and ensure safer journeys by implementing essential features such as slope protection, drainage systems, and solar streetlights along critical sections.

In addition to improving transportation infrastructure, the initiative prioritizes accessibility to the Coast Guard facility, a vital communication hub for maritime operations, while also holding potential as a farm-to-market route, opening doors for future eco-tourism development.

The groundbreaking event represents a significant milestone in Bataan’s pursuit of progress, exemplifying a commitment to fostering better connectivity, infrastructure, and opportunities for the local community.
