NBI heeds Dera transfer order

Muntinlupa City Jail is now housing Jad Dera, the recently apprehended detainee who had been going in and out of the National Bureau of Investigation’s detention facility. At 7:11 p.m. on Thursday, Dera was officially delivered to the jail by NBI guards after leaving the NBI facility past 6 p.m.

The Department of Justice requested Dera’s transfer to another facility, and the Muntinlupa Court granted the request.

In June, Dera and several NBI security guards were arrested after he allegedly went on a date while accompanied by his escorts.

During his testimony before the Senate, Dera admitted that he had been allowed to leave the NBI facility on multiple occasions, only one of which was covered by a court order.

According to him, a court order dated 10 December 2021 allowed him to leave the NBI’s detention facility on 20 January 2022 so that he could get himself checked at a hospital in Manila.

Dera acknowledged that he was permitted to leave the detention center a second time so that he could visit a different hospital and have his heart examined, but this time the court did not give its permission.

On Father’s Day this year, he left the NBI for the third time, and on June 20, he was captured along with five NBI jail guards while reportedly going on a date.

Dera also attested to reports that he was also permitted to travel to Calatagan, Batangas, and to Tagaytay City alongside other NBI agents.

The Justice Department asserted that it is “hellbent on making heads roll” as a result of what happened.

Since 2019, Dera has been held at the NBI jail on suspicion of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is accused of murder as well.
