Michelle Yeoh, Jean Todt exchange vows 19 years later

Nearly two decades after Jean Todt proposed to Michelle Yeoh, the couple exchanged vows in an intimate wedding ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday, 27 July.

Former Formula 1 racer Felipe Massa, who attended as a guest, gave fans a glimpse into the couple’s love life and festivities before Todt made their marriage public on social media.

Among the photos was one displaying a card detailing the Yeoh and Todt’s relationship timeline, which revealed that the couple first crossed paths in Shanghai on 4 June 2004. The groom proposed a little over a month later, on 26 July of the same year, to which the bride said “YES!”

The card also read, “Today after 6992 days… surrounded by loving family and friends, we are so happy to celebrate this special moment together!”

The love story between the Oscar-winning actress and the former CEO of Ferrari is nothing short of enchanting.

In 2020, Yeoh took to Instagram to celebrate the delightful 6,000 days they had spent together as a couple.

Elle reported that the long-time couple initially met when Yeoh was promoting Ferrari, which Todt was heading at the time. This marks the second marriage for both of them, as Todt, 77, has a son named Nicolas from a previous relationship, while Yeoh, 60, was formerly married to Hong Kong magnate Dickson Poon from 1988 to 1991.

This year has proven to be exceptionally memorable for Yeoh. Just months before tying the knot, she etched her name in history by becoming the first Asian woman to win the prestigious Academy Award for Best Actress, thanks to her remarkable performance in the science-fiction comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022).

Prior to her Oscar win, Yeoh earned fame as a screen legend for her outstanding performances in films like Tomorrow Never Dies, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Memoirs of a Geisha and Crazy Rich Asians.

Jean, a French racing executive, has served as the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety since 2015. Additionally, he held the position of president of the Federation International de l’Automobile from 2009 to 2021.
