Senator Raffy Tulfo on Tuesday proposed the creation of an independent transportation safety board that will ensure strict monitoring and implementation of the regular maintenance of aircraft within general aviation “to avoid life-threatening air accidents.”
This comes after Tulfo received a report that a high number of airplane crashes have been logged in just a span of four years.
Citing data from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, at least 35 aircraft crashes were recorded from 2018 to 2022, which Tulfo deemed as “unacceptable.”
