Bring Pinoy culture to world — PBBM

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday urged the new Katipunan ng mga Artistang Pilipino sa Pelikula at Telebisyon officers to continue to support its workers and showcase Filipino culture to the world.

At the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of the Actors Guild of the Philippines in Malacañang, Marcos explained that the creative industry sector is vital to the economy as it helps promote the Philippines both domestically and internationally.

“I hope that, as you secure the well-being of your colleagues, you will continue to strive to raise the standards of our films and our shows at the same time,” Marcos said.

“It is also my wish that you make use and maximize the advantages brought about by new tools, new technologies, and new platforms to showcase Filipino excellence and artistry on the world stage,” he added.

The Chief Executive also encouraged the Filipino creative workforce to raise the standards of Philippine films and shows as he underscored the need to bring Filipino talent and culture to the world stage.

Marcos added that the Philippines could potentially be a major player in the global creative industry.

“We are as good, if not better than many, many of these,” Marcos said. “If we were living in LA, we would all be millionaires, right? Because the Philippines is relatively small. But if all our talents, singers, actors, directors, everyone, including the technical aspects like lighting and sound, if you bring all of that to LA, they would all become famous and successful, all millionaires. That’s why it’s time to bring the culture of the Philippines to the world.”

“Through the effective combinations of these technological developments in your craft, you have greater opportunities to share our tradition and values further than ever even as you continue to mold, to influence and to shape the society that we live in,” he said.
