Motorbanca sinks near Polilio waters

The Philippine Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog reported that a motorbanca sunk off the waters of Polilio Island in Quezon Province on Thursday.

In its report, the PCG said that the vessel — identified as MBCA Jovelle Express 3
— originated from Real, Quezon and was heading to Patnanungan island.

It added that a hard material accidentally hit the boat, causing it to capsize.

A total of 67 passengers including seven crew were rescued and was brought to the barangay hall of Barangay Macnit.

Patnanungan Mayor Clara Lalita also confirmed that all passengers of the boat were rescued.

The Coast Guard added that lifevests were provided to the passengers before it left the port in Real.

The PCG is now waiting for a new passenger boat that will ferry the passengers to  their destination in Patnanungan.
