Marking its third edition, the competition was an integral part of the 2023 World Food Expo in Manila. The goal was to challenge the precision, speed and expertise of the baristas. As coffee lovers came together, Singapore’s Singa Crew emerged victorious, securing a remarkable $5,000 prize pool. The first runner-up title was claimed by Indonesia’s Hungry Bird, with Hong Kong’s T67M securing the second runner-up spot. Philippines’ Clutch proudly stood as the third runner-up.

Since 2010, the ASEAN Coffee Federation has worked relentlessly to improve the quality of coffee beans grown in Southeast Asian countries. The federation encourages stakeholder communication, helps growers, and advocates for the consumption of ASEAN coffee cultivated locally.

Competitors skillfully wielded La Cimbali M200 GT1 espresso machines and Mazzer Major VP grinders to demonstrate their finesse.

The event garnered local support through the Philippine Coffee Board, a proud member of the ASEAN Coffee Federation.

“You can be the second, you can be the third, but it’s very hard to be the first,” emphasized Pacita “Chit” Juan, president of the Philippine Coffee Board, referring to ABTC 2023 as the pioneering international coffee competition held in the nation.
