BARMM seeks Sulu ecozone

JOLO, Sulu Province — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao is pushing to establish an agro-economic zone in this province aim to propel economic growth which will generate employment and investments for the province.

Governor Abdusakur Tan on Monday expressed appreciation and enthusiasm for the promising outcome the economic zone could bring to the development of the province.

“That’s good, for us, we propose to put it in the town of Maimbung or Talipao and at the same time, if a seaport is going to be built, it should be deep there,” Tan said.

Tan believes that the establishment of agro-economic zones in the province would offer several benefits including the generation of employment, revenue generation, promotion of exports, and support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

He added that the establishment of an agro-economic zone in the province will enhance the quality of life of the people and their role as pivotal economic drivers for the province.
