La Union ready for 2023 BSKE

The La Union Police Provincial Office announced recently that is now one hundred percent ready for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections 2023.

According to Police Colonel Lambert Suerte, the LUPPO has already deployed personnel just at the start of the election period and has been conducting simultaneous checkpoints in the province.

“We have at least 707 personnel ready to be deployed and we still need at least 136 that will come from other units. We already have 20, which is 10 from the Philippine Coast Guard and 10 from the Philippine Army while the remaining will be from the Regional Mobile Force Batallion,” Suerte said.

On top of the simultaneous checkpoints, the province has also augmented personnel who are conducting regular patrolling and random checkpoints to ensure that lawless individuals will not pattern their movements.

Suerte added that they have also conducted rehearsals on Civil Disturbance Management and Crisis Management as he admits that there are areas of concern based on the previous election.

“Out of 576 Barangays, they have 47 areas of concern which are from Pugo, Caba, Agoo, Bauang and Luna,” Suerte said.

Despite the areas of concern, Suerte positively sees the BSKE 2023 to be generally peaceful in La Union but he also reiterates that the LUPPO is prepared for the worst.

Meanwhile, Police Lt. Col. Dominic Guerrero of the Regional Mobile Force Batallion 1 says that they are ready to augment anytime.

“We have already deployed people in key locations and our people have already been assisting in checkpoints. The RMFB 1 is only one call away to serve the people,” Guerrero said in a statement.
