Malawi getting first Super Health Center

The Department of Health has allotted P11.5 million for the construction of the first Super Health Center on Malamawi Island in Basilan province.

The SHC will be funded by the Health Facilities Enhancement Program of the DoH with support from the Office of Senator Christopher Lawrence Go.

The SHC will have an outpatient department, laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, birthing, diagnostic, pharmacy and emergency services. The project is also meant to decongest the Basilan General Hospital.

The SHC will also serve as a medium version of a polyclinic general hospital, offering a wide range of services including laboratory testing, pharmacy, dental care and minor surgical procedures.

It is expected to serve the healthcare needs of neighboring barangays on Malamawi Island and help improve the health of residents in the area.
