Peaceful, fraud-free Basilan BSKE poll pushed

The Ministry of Public Order and Safety  met with law enforcement agencies and Commission on Elections officials in Basilan Province this week to discuss security preparations for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Shahid Akbara of MPOS emphasized the need for a joint and coordinated security effort to achieve a free, honest, credible, safe, and secure electoral process on 30 October.

Among the agencies that participated in the forum were the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Comelec, Moro Islamic Liberation Front, and Moro National Liberation Front.

Brig. Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the 101st Infantry Brigade, said the military will remain apolitical and non-partisan as their mission is to ensure against any failure of election or poll fraud in Basilan.

Meanwhile, the town of Lantawan vowed to conduct a peaceful and credible 2023 BSK Elections. Election officials and the BSK Elections candidates signed a peace covenant at Matarling Elementary School, Lantawan, Basilan.
