Teachers and students have a special bond that is expressed during occasions like Teachers’ Month.
Irecor dela Cerna Abuton of Dolipos Alto Elementary School in Oroquieta City shared on social media the thoughtfulness of her Grade 4 pupils, who gifted her with something memorable.
Norwin Ordineza, Julian Cagamcam, and Sef Alexander Sareta could not afford traditional gifts for Abuton. Their resourcefulness, however, more than made up for that.
Abuton shared in a Facebook post the picture of a sack of rambutan the three boys had brought to class for her. In the post, the teacher wrote that she was shocked by the amount of fruit that the boys gave her, according to CDNLife.
Ordineza, Cagamcam and Sareta picked the rambutan from trees in the village. The gesture was as sweet as the fruit. Other students in the school also gave lanzones, mangosteen and marang that they had plucked from fruit trees in the barangay.
Luisa Casuga Conmigo, a teacher at Malasiqui Central School in Pangasinan, also shared on Facebook a touching present from one of her pupils on World Teachers Day last 5 October.
The photo of Conmigo holding up a bundle of fresh saluyot or jute plant leaves given by pupil Jerick C. Cansino, who was beside her inside a classroom, went viral with more than 24,000 shares and over 2,000 comments.
The teacher was thankful for Cansino’s gesture and did not mind receiving saluyot, which is a common vegetable and garnish rich in nutrients.
Many netizens touched by the effort of the 10-year-old pupil donated groceries and cash to him through Conmigo. A video of the teacher handing the gifts over to the Cansino family at their small hut last week has gone viral on social media.
“Saluyot boy,” who helps his poor family by selling vegetables grown in their backyard, begs for money for his little brother’s school lunch, helps his mother wash other people’s laundry, and tends with his father a farm, is now famous.
