Sincerity vs deceit

In the viciousness of war, heroes and villains always emerge.

A verbal clash that highlighted the divisiveness masterminded by the terror group Hamas was the recent exchange between British Broadcasting Corp.’s Piers Morgan, host of the show Uncensored, and Palestinian Ambassador Husam Zomlot.

Zomlot was swayed by the Hamas position that it was an Israeli airstrike that hit the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, and he accused even the BBC of being complicit with Israel in giving credence to the evidence-backed claim that the culprit was a missile from the militant side that misfired.

Morgan pointed out to Zomlot that the BBC investigation indicated that an Israeli airstrike did not hit the hospital. It was the same conclusion that the US investigation drew.

The Palestinian diplomat insisted that Israel had dropped a bomb on the hospital, the casualty figures for which kept changing as the dispute became more heated.

Morgan raised the “circumstantial set of evidence” to Zomlot that a missile from within Gaza struck the hospital. The renowned and highly credible British journalist then aired footage that showed a rocket launched from within north Gaza misfiring and falling in a ball of fire near the hospital.

The Israeli embassy, likewise, revealed an intercepted communication between likely members of Hamas.

Speaking in Arabic, one person appeared perturbed about the hospital explosion, and another indicated his being told about the missile coming from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an armed group sympathetic to Hamas in Gaza.

Israel Defense Forces video showed Palestinian insurgents’ rocket launches flying directly over the hospital.

Morgan demanded that Zomlot show evidence to back his claim of an Israeli bombardment of the hospital, which sparked the wild allegation by the Palestinian official that BBC and US President Joe Biden were spreading Israeli lies.

The facts, however, go entirely against Zomlot and the Hamas narrative.

Regrettable is how Hamas has succeeded in deceiving people after it launched the brutal 7 October terror rampage that has killed more than 1,500 individuals, mostly civilians.

Innocent Gaza residents are being kept from leaving the war zone, which fits in with the aim of the terrorists to use them as human shields.

The IDF presented a recording of a phone call between an Israeli intelligence officer and a resident of Jabalya in Gaza in which the officer was told that Hamas confiscated personal belongings, including car keys and IDs, to prevent them from heading south to safety as instructed by the IDF.

The IDF said this proved that Hamas was actively preventing Palestinians from evacuating south to safety.

With the treacherous designs of Hamas, no one inside the war zone is safe, including the more than 70 Filipinos hoping to cross the border into Egypt.

Notably, the heroism of the Filipino workers has shone amid the conflict.

The Department of Foreign Affairs yesterday regrettably announced that another Filipino caregiver had been killed in the conflict.

The victim was a Filipina caregiver working in a communal settlement in Israel, one of the places Hamas militants raided.

Filipinos are known for their steadfast commitment to remain by the side of a friend or a patient in their care, come what may.

A strong belief in God, the value of human life, and a sense of responsibility for others give the Filipinos working in Israel their inner strength.

These traits should inspire others to shun the seduction of violence against their fellow men.
