As part of the government’s efforts to ensure sufficient food supply among poor households, Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian led the distribution of rice to the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on Monday (October 23).
Each beneficiary received a 25-kilo sack of premium Jasmine rice, which is part of the confiscated rice by the Bureau of Customs in the Port of Zamboanga and later donated to the DSWD.
Joining Gatchalian in the rice distribution were Tawi-Tawi Governor Ysmael I. Sali; Vice-Governor Al Syed A. Sali; and DSWD officials including Undersecretaries Eduardo Punay, Monina Josefina Romualdez and Allan Tanjusay; Assistant Secretary Florentino Loyola Jr.; and DSWD Field Office-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) Assistant Regional Director Ma. Socorro Macaso.
