Japanese fashion brand releases new summer collection

Uniqlo, the popular Japanese fashion brand, presents its Uniqlo U 2023 Spring/Summer Collection designed by artistic director Christophe Lemaire and his R&D team in Paris.

With the theme “A Sense of Ease,” the collection features modern, timeless modular wardrobe centered on clothes that make life easier.

For the ladies, womenswear offers versatile activewear that is interchangeable between exercise and everyday life – a sheer shirt with patch pockets in matte-finish cotton and new jeans that are slightly curved with a fitted leg to create a fresh silhouette.

For the gentlemen, the men’s section carries a complete range of versatile basics for a modern yet timeless look. Seersucker striped shirts and cotton shorts are cut wide for an easy summer silhouette. An oversized utility jacket is a new proportion for outerwear. The crew neck 3/4 sleeve t-shirt has been further perfected with a boxy fit. Parachute pants are utilitarian and effortless with adjustable drawstrings at the hem.

All of the items combine soft, matte cotton, AIRism cotton and utilitarian outerwear to create a complete range of versatile basics with thoughtfully considered proportions. It comes in a playful yet elegant color palette that combines understated neutrals, rich blues and beiges with bright pops of green, orange, yellow, purple and pink.

T-shirt line
Uniqlo has renewed its UT line under the care of creative director Kosuke Kawamura. Along with the classic UT silhouette, it is available in a newly developed oversized fit to match the graphics. Long sleeve t-shirt styles are also appearing this season, rounding out designs for real street trends in exacting patterns down to the millimeter.

The Message is a line of t-shirts that convey a message, considered the origin of the graphic tee. Created with three modern artists — Cali Dewitt, Trevor Andrew and Lakwena — who are driving the art scene in hotspots, such as Los Angeles and London, the brightly colored expressions feature silhouettes reflecting the latest trends, with a heavier material.

Skater Collection features images of skateboards, representative of street culture, in a collaboration with Los Angeles-born creator Alex Olson and Shinpei Ueno, who has made internationally acclaimed films while active as a professional rider.

For the Hypebeast Community Center line, four communities active in the modern culture scene freely expressed visuals conveying the culture of their generations through standard t-shirts, as well as coach jackets and long-sleeve t-shirts.

Sportswear
Uniqlo also introduces its newest Sport Utility Wear line that “brings high quality, comfortable and functional activewear that is perfect for all activities, even beyond sports,” said Geraldine Sia, Uniqlo Philippines chief operating officer. “From the Dry-Ex pieces made with quick-drying technology and AIRism that is cool and smooth to the touch, down to the Ultra Stretch Active items that are so easy to move in.”
