Liza Soberano apologizes to Ogie Diaz, ABS-CBN

Merely days after lamenting that her former manager Ogie Diaz was “saying so many things that are untrue”, Liza Soberano apologized to Diaz in a follow-up interview with TV host Boy Abunda.

Soberano, 25, had earlier disclosed that Diaz was supposedly getting 30 percent as commission from her during their time as talent manager and artist, but Diaz refuted the claim, saying they had settled on 20 percent for him and 10 percent for ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. He also pushed back at Soberano’s charge that he was “making up lies” and that he had called her “ungrateful” for her controversial vlog where Soberano appeared to question the career choices and direction she had experienced under Diaz and ABS-CBN.

To Tito Ogie (Diaz), I would like to say sorry if I hurt his feelings through my vlog, and I would say thank you for everything that I have, everything that I know, and everything that I achieved through his help,” said Soberano in her follow-up chat with Abunda.

She also extended her apology to ABS-CBN and thanked her former network “for taking a risk on me when I was a nobody.”

“ABS-CBN was always my second home. I devoted so many years to them. I’m sorry again also to them if there were people that I’ve worked closely with that were offended by some of the things that I said in my vlog. That wasn’t the intention but then also I’m thankful to them,” said Soberano.

“And they know this, I’m thankful for them for taking a risk on me when I was a nobody, for investing in me, developing me, creating Liza Soberano. And thank you also for being so understanding when I decided to no longer renew with them,” she added.

Soberano, who was part of a popular loveteam with real-life boyfriend Enrique Gil, thanked Gil for being “very understanding of the whole situation.”

Gil has kept silent about the controversy spawned by Soberano’s vlog. “I feel like I should say sorry to Quen [Gil’s nickname] for not being as understanding, or for not being able to see through his struggles because I was struggling at the same time, too,” said Soberano. “I want to say thank you because he was very understanding of the whole situation.”

After his management contract with Diaz ended, Soberano opted not to renew and instead signed up with Careless, the music label company founded by fellow actor James Reid. She has been spending time in LA in pursuit of her dream to establish a career in Hollywood.
