The Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority on Friday signed an agreement which allows academic degree and skills certification holders to further enhance their competencies through formal and technical-vocational education.
CHEd chairperson Prospero de Vera III and TESDA director general Danilo Cruz were present during the ceremonial signing of the Joint Memorandum Circular at Marriott Hotel in Pasay City, with representatives from the Department of Education, Department of Labor and Employment and the Professional Regulations Commission.
The pact seeks to implement the Philippine Credit Transfer System that seeks to provide opportunities for both higher education and technical-vocational learners to further improve their skill sets that would gain them national certification and degree certifications respectively.
It will also cover courses in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Chemistry, Electronics Engineering, Hospitality Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management and Information Technology.
“The impact of this is the fact that we provide opportunities for young people to move in between activities of TESDA and CHED and can benefit from both,” De Vera said.
