PBBM designates David Alba as acting SRA administrator

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed David John Thaddeus Alba as acting administrator of the embattled Sugar Regulatory Administration, Executive Secretary Victor Rodriguez confirmed to reporters on Sunday, 20 August.

Alba replaced former SRA administrator Hermenegildo Serafica who resigned in his position after the SRA Board signed and released the “illegal” and “unauthorized” Sugar Order no. 4, allowing the importation of 300,000 metric tons of sugar.

Marcos Jr. also appointed new members of the SRA Board, namely Pablo Luis Azcona (sugar planters representative) and Ma. Mitzi Mangwag (sugar millers representative).

The SRA, a government-owned and controlled corporation, is attached to the Department of Agriculture (DA), which is temporarily headed by Marcos.
