Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna credited the help and support of her co-workers in City Hall in making her first year in office a success.
Speaking at a news forum organized by the Manila City Hall Reporters’ Association, Lacuna said that her one-year stewardship as the city’s top executive was made easy by the fact that she is surrounded by people who share her vision for a “Magnificent Manila.”
“I am very fortunate that I am surrounded with people who have the same vision as I do,” Lacuna said. “That made my job a lot easier. We are all on the same page and we all want the same things for the future of Manila. It was easy to convey my vision to my co-public servants because they share it.”
Lacuna also expressed gratitude to the members of the private sector for all their contributions to the city. She said that the city will continue to put to good use the help that it receives from the private sector.
On the other hand, Lacuna said that the most difficult part of her first year in office was to prove to the people of Manila that they did not make a mistake in electing her as the first lady mayor in the city’s history.
“Proving to my constituents that they did not make a mistake in trusting me was the biggest challenge,” Lacuna said. “And to also erase the shadow of my predecessor.”
