PCG: 40 rescued, 30 casualties after motor banca capsizes

At least 30 casualties were reported after a motor banca capsized in Binangonan, Rizal on Thursday afternoon due to strong winds caused by Super Typhoon “Egay”, the Philippine Coast Guard confirmed.

The PCG said motor banca Princess Aya capsized approximately 50 yards or 0.04572 kilometers off Barangay Kalinawan in Binangonan

“Around 1 p.m., the motor banca was hit by strong winds, causing all passengers to panic,” the PCG said. “They went to the port side of the motor banca, causing it to capsize.”

The PCG said there were 30 “casualties” while 40 individuals were rescued. Search and retrieval operations are still ongoing.
