SM Foundation lends hand to Bataan families

The SM Foundation Inc., with SM Cares, SM Markets and SM City Bataan through its Operation Tulong Express mission with the support of City Social Welfare and Development, has distributed packed foods, including water, to the

typhoon-affected families in the City of Balanga.

With the heavy rains poured over the region during the onslaught of super typhoon “Egay,” widespread flooding has caused in some parts of North Luzon, which prompted SM Foundation to extend relief assistance to the needy.

As one of the first responders during the

flood-stricken communities through SM Foundation’s Operation Tulong Express actuated in giving immediate assistance to hundred affected families in identified areas of Barangay Cataning and Barangay San Jose in the City of Balanga in Bataan over the weekend.

Balanga City Social Welfare and Development head Lalaine de Leon expressed gratitude to SM, highlighting the company’s proactive approach in reaching out to the community during difficult times.

SM’s Operation Tulong Express specifically focuses on disaster response and relief efforts, promptly mobilizing resources to assist affected communities during calamities.

The distribution of Kalinga Packs, headed by assistant mall manager Jhoanalyn Gatdula and volunteer employees and agencies from SM City Bataan, consists of bottled mineral water, rice, canned-goods and instant noodles. SM has consistently demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility, engaging in numerous initiatives to support the community.
