The Philippines can expect timely delivery of the shore-based anti-ship missile system the country has procured from India’s defense company BrahMos Aerospace.
Defense spokesperson Arsenio Andolong said on Tuesday the procurement was part of the Horizon 2 phase of the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Program.
The reassurance by the Indian government came after Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. met with India’s ambassador to the Philippines, Shambu Kumaran, last 17 August.
Andolong said both India and the Philippines have reaffirmed their commitment to a rules-based international order in the Indo-Pacific region.
“Secretary Teodoro and Ambassador Kumaran reaffirmed their commitment to upholding a rules-based international order and strengthening relations with like-minded countries in the region,” he added.
According to Andolong, Kumaran conveyed India’s support for Asean centrality and all Asean platforms, particularly the Asean Defense Ministers Meeting and ADMM-Plus.
