Kapuso star Derrick Monasterio says his dream role is to play a superhero.
Speaking at the Return to Paradise media conference, “Kung ako talaga ang masusunod, gusto ko parang mga superhero ganun. Pero lahat naman ng mga project na dumadating sa’kin, dream ko yun eh.”
Pero as much as possible, gusto ko pa rin sanang partner si Elle,” he added.
Monasterio and Elle Villanueva are the lead actors of Return to Paradise.
The actor added that because of the actress, he has become more open and vulnerable.
“Like what I kept on saying before, she is the love team that made me more open and because of her, I became more vulnerable and, ginaganahan akong gumawa ng lahat ng scenes kasama siya kasi grabe rin siyang magbigay eh. And we got close well which is good, which helped a lot sa mga scenes namin. And sobrang click lang talaga yung mga personalities namin,” he shared.
“And I thank her for trusting me. Ever since day one, ever since workshop pa lang. So, the experience was amazing,” he added.
Villanueva replied that she is grateful for having Derrick as her first ever love team in GMA-7.
“For me, Derrick being my first love team, I was really grateful na siya yung unang naka love team ko because it was easy for us to connect with each other surprisingly. And naging easy din sa’kin yung mga ginagawa as a love team. Yung mga kilig, yung mga touch because he was very open to it. And he made sure that I was comfortable while doing it. And talagang inalagaan niya lang ako all throughout the show,” she said.
Derrick added that he won’t be missing her because he will be seeing her more on a regular basis and that this is just the start of their blossoming friendship.
According to them, they will miss each other’s characters, their veterans, the staff, the production team, and that for them they are like another family.
“And everytime na sinusuot namin yung bracelet na yun, yung seashells, feeling namin, kami talaga si Red and Eden,” she said.
Viewers will have a surprise at the end of the Return to Paradise. Some characters will be lost, change, some unexpected scenes and more will happen, according to Derrick.
For future projects, both actors said that they want a remake of Mr. & Mrs. Smith or Marimar.
Return to Paradise is the story of two college students, Eden Sta. Maria and Red Ramos, who are trapped in an island after a plane crash. As they survive life in the wild, the two fall in love with each other. When they are rescued, Eden and Red find out that their parents have major conflicts that will affect their relationship.
Return to Paradise also stars Eula Valdez, Teresa Loyzaga, Ricardo Cepeda, Liezel Lopez, Kiray Celis, Karel Marquez, Paolo Paraiso, and Allen Dizon.
