Damaged Sucat footbridge demolished

The Department of Public Works and Highways reported the removal of the damaged footbridge near Fourth Estate Subdivision in Dr. Arcadio Santos Avenue in Sucat, Parañaque over the weekend.
This, as the footbridge was damaged when a container truck heading northbound crashed the pedestrian overpass on 12 November, causing damages on the overpass’ girder and effectively causing heavy traffic on both lanes of the said avenue.

DPWH-National Capital Region spokesperson Jana Patricia Reyes said in an interview with Daily Tribune that their personnel immediately responded to the call of the local government of Parañaque in the clearing operation along the affected road portion.

The agency has managed to conduct clearing operations from 12 to 15 November, gradually opening the northbound portion of the avenue on Sunday evening before opening all lanes on 14 November, according to the City’s Traffic and Parking Management Office.

“We are supporting the Parañaque LGU since it is in their jurisdiction. It is for them to decide whether they want to construct another footbridge. If they need help, the DPWH is ready to assist,” Reyes said.

In a Facebook post, DPWH-NCR said that they are discussing the possible re-construction of the footbridge with other offices.
