Balikbayan boxes distribution continue

The Bureau of Customs-Port of Cagayan de Oro has started distributing balikbayan boxes for the families of overseas Filipino workers in Northern Mindanao which is part of the 4,625 packages consolidated by All Win Cargo LLC but abandoned by its deconsolidator, Cargoflex Haulers Corporation.

The container arrived in Cagayan de Oro on 29 December last year with 99 balikbayan boxes intended for consignees in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte, Surigao, Davao and Zamboanga del Sur.

As of 4 January 2023, 52 balikbayan boxes have been claimed by consignees. The port intends to deliver all 99 balikbayan packages by the end of January 2023.

Meantime, the BoC Port of Davao and Sub-Port of Dadiangas have also facilitated the distribution of abandoned balikbayan boxes in line with the directive of BoC commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz.

Ruiz said that for Davao and Dadiangas, the boxes can be claimed from Monday to Friday that started on 27 December, 2022, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays.

He added that the balikbayan boxes at the Port of Davao can be claimed at Panabo Bypass Road, Barangay Cagangohan, Panabo City, and at JJM Warehouse, Banisil, Barangay Tambler, Gen. Santos City for the Sub-Port of Dadiangas.

“No fees will be charged, but claimants will need to present two valid government-issued IDs, proof of shipping documents, a photocopy of the sender’s passport, and an authorization letter if boxes are received by their representatives,” Ruiz said.

Already, 70 out of 282 boxes in the Port of Davao and 92 out of 1,002 packages in the Sub-Port of Dadiangas have already been released.
