Manila LGU pushes online tax payments

The local government of Manila has called on all property owners in the capital city to pay their taxes on or before 31 January 2023 to avail of a 10-percent discount.

Mayor Honey Lacuna has directed City Treasurer Jasmin Talegon to give a discount on real property tax payments during the period, but only to those without delinquencies.

Instead of a discount, those paying their property taxes after 31 January will be assessed a penalty, Talegon warned.

Payments may be made through the City Treasurer’s Office or via the Go Manila app at www.cityofmanila.ph. The LGU encouraged payers to do so online, assuring that they will be issued an e-statement of account and e-receipt.

Lacuna said that under the online payment system, one can use a cellphone, Ipad or computer to access the app in paying taxes.

“Once you have entered the Go Manila app, go to RPT payment where you will enter your tax declaration number and property identification number, from which your SOA will appear and then, you can choose whether to pay quarterly or yearly,” Lacuna explained.

Lacuna said that the taxpayer may choose the mode of payment either through money transfer, bank or GCash after which he will be issued an e-OR or e-receipt.

Nonetheless, manual payments are also accepted at the Manila City Hall, she said.
