Yoo Ah-in’s hair test shows traces of banned drug

South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in tested positive for the anesthetic propofol, adding to earlier charges he’s facing for marijuana use.

Upon his arrival in South Korea from the United States on 5 February, Ah-in underwent both urine and hair examinations. The marijuana in his urine later tested positive.

According to a Soompi report, the National Forensic Service brought the results of his hair sample to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s drug investigation unit. Propofol was detected in the sample.

Together with these procedures, the police also began a search and seizure operation in Seoul for medical offices and clinics that may have administered Ah-in’s drug illegally as of 2021.

The agency of Ah-in, UAA, responded to the findings by stating that they are “actively cooperating with the investigation” and that they “plan to explain all the issues” that have been put into question.

When used for anything other than surgical treatment, the intravenous short-acting anesthetic propofol is considered illegal. Due to its greater accessibility and quicker recovery from anesthesia, it has, however, been misused by numerous celebrities and powerful businesspeople.

Ah-in has acted in a variety of dramas and movies, including Hellbound, Secret Affair, Chicago Typewriter, Alive, Seoul Vibe, and Voice of Silence.

Yoo’s next projects include the movies Highfive, The Match, and the Netflix original series Goodbye Earth, all of which are slated for release in the upcoming months.
