“The board agreed to sub-classify the non-agriculture wages and simplify the agriculture wages classification.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Central Visayas yesterday disclosed that the minimum wage increases of P20, P15 and P10 for workers in the region will take effect by Aug. 3, 2018.
The announcement came after the order was released yesterday in a newspaper of general circulation in the region.
The order takes effect 15 days after its publication.
“In line with the thrust to rationalize the wage structure and in consideration of the changes in the employment structure in the region, the board agreed to sub-classify the non-agriculture wages and simplify the agriculture wages classification,” the order stated.
It emphasized that the provisions do not cover household or domestic workers, persons in the personal service of another and workers of establishments registered under the Barangay Micro Business enterprises with valid Certificates of Authority.
The order added that “upon application with and as determined by the board based on documentary and other requirements in accordance with applicable rules and regulations issued by the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), distressed establishments adversely affected by calamities such as natural and/or human-induced disasters may be exempted from the applicability of the order.”
RTWPB chairman and Department of Labor and Employment Regional Director Alvin Villamor explained that the wage increases are classified into Class A (non-agriculture and agriculture), Class B (non-agriculture and agriculture), Class C (non-agriculture and agriculture) and Class D (non-agriculture and agriculture).
For Class A (non-agriculture), the minimum wage increase for establishments with more than 10 employees is P20, making the daily minimum wage P386 from P366; and P10 for establishments with less than 10 employees, making the minimum wage P376 from P366.
For Class B (non-agriculture), the increase is P15 daily for establishments with more than 10 employees, making the minimum wage P348 from P333 and P10 for establishments with less than 10 employees, making it P343 from P333.
For Class C (non-agriculture), the increase is P15, making the minimum wage P338 from P323; and P10 for establishments with less than 10 employees, making it P333 from P323.
For Class D (non-agriculture), the increase is P15, making it P323 from P308 for establishments with more than 10 employees; and P10 for establishments with less than 10 employees, making the minimum daily wage P318 from P308.
For Class A (agriculture), the minimum wage increase ranges from P20 to P52.
Class B (agriculture) will have increases ranging from P10 to P25.
Class C (agriculture) will have an increase of P10.
For Class D (agriculture), the minimum wage increase is from P10 to P25.
Central Visayas is comprised of the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
Class A cities are Carcar, Cebu, Danao, Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Naga and Talisay and the municipalities of Compostela, Consolacion, Cordova, Liloan, Minglanilla, San Fernando or Expanded Metro Cebu.
Class B are the cities of Toledo, Bogo and the rest of the municipalities of Cebu province, except Bantayan and Camotes islands.
Class C are the cities and municipalities in Bohol and Negros Oriental Provinces.
Class D are the municipalities in Siquijor Province and municipalities in Bantayan and Camotes islands.
