Knights hammer Blazers

Letran College continued to ride on its size advantage as it outlasted College of Saint Benilde, 64-60, to keep its place in the top three in the 94th National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Letran Gym in Intramuros.

Bong Quinto led his team with 17 points but it was the frontcourt troika of Larry Muyang, Chris Fajarito and Jeo Ambohot who came through and imposed their will in powering the Knights to solo No. 3 with a 3-1 (win-loss) record.

Muyag, Fajarito and Ambohot combined for 22 points and 22 rebounds and were instrumental in holding the Blazers scoreless in the last 3.27 minutes to snare the win.

It was also the three who lifted the Muralla-based dribblers to a 74-58 bashing of Jose Rizal University last week.

“We just like to take advantage of the strength that we obviously have and we did it again in this game,” said Letran coach Jeff Napa.
