Frayna back in the race

Woman Grandmaster Janelle Mae Frayna made it back the Top 10 when she beat Adrian Domerfield of England and Woman FIDE Master Paula Alexandra Gitu of Moldova after four rounds of the Burgse Meesters in Burges, Belgium Monday night.

Frayna, 22, now has three points to jump back into a 21-player group at No. 10 while easing the stigma of a heartbreaking loss to sixth seed GM Wan Yunguo of China in the second round where she blew a winning chance.

She was playing Dutch International Master Lucas Van Foreest in the fifth round at press time.

GM Jayson Gonzales bounced back from a third-round loss to third seed Matthew Turner of Scotland by trouncing FIDE-affiliated WIM Tsveta Galunova to join the Frayna-led pack.

The 49-year-old Gonzales was tackling FM Georgi Tomov of Bulgaria at press time.

IM John Marvin Miciano drew with Thomas Villiers of England and has just two points to show.
