A suspect allegedly making a living by selling drugs was killed in a place for the dead.

The Manila Police District reported that a member of a notorious ‘Batang City Jail’ was killed in a shootout with lawmen during a buy bust operation Friday afternoon inside the North Cemetery at Blumentritt, Sta. Cruz Manila.

Authorities identified the suspect as Reynante Garate, 44, and resident of 1175 Guerrero St., Ermita, Manila.

Records reveal the incident took place about 5:30 in the afternoon 24 August.

Operatives said that after completing a drug deal with an undercover policeman the suspect sensed he was being set up and drew his gun to fire at the lawmen.

PO1 Franklin Francisco fired back and hit the suspect several times. Garate was rushed to Chinese General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by Dr. Feyenne Tiu about 6:10 p.m.

Items recovered from the crime scene include five pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, P300 buy-bust money, one revolver with two live bullets and one bullet case.
