This is in line with the call of KBP national chapter for a simultaneous tree-planting activity.
The Pangasinan chapter of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) together with other volunteers planted a total 2,000 seedlings of various trees in Barangay Pugaro, Pangasinan during the annual “Oplan BroadcasTreeing” on Saturday.
KBP-Pangasinan chairman Mark Espinosa said the event began in 2011 as part of the media organization’s environmental advocacy. However, he said the activity is not limited to media practitioners and encourage the community to volunteer and take part in the endeavor.
“This is in line with the call of KBP national chapter for a simultaneous tree-planting activity on 18 August in the whole country, but since we experienced flooding and weather disturbances in the province, the schedule for Pangasinan was moved to 25 August,” he said.
The organization partnered with the local offices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Interior and Local Government, local government, non-government organizations, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines and a bikers’ organization for this year’s tree planting.
