The National Capital National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) yesterday urged the public to be more vigilant and alert during the observance of All Saints and All Souls Days.
NCRPO head Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar made the appeal in a television interview Monday morning and reminded the public to secure their residences if they plan to leave and take a vacation during the upcoming holidays.
“Their houses should be secured and windows should have grills on them. We also suggest they install security systems in their houses,” Eleazar said.
The NCRPO head also reiterated that drinking alcohol is prohibited as well as bringing gambling materials to cemeteries. He said that there are more than 3,000 policemen who will be deployed to ensure peace and order across Metro Manila during the observance of Undas.
“At least 3,400 PNP personnel will be deployed but we will be augmented by thousands of force multipliers coming from Bantay Bayan,” Eleazar said. “These barangay peacekeeping action teams, NGO (non-government organization) and barangay tanods will provide security.”
He also noted that the police have started their coordination with other concerned agencies to ensure peace and order during the coming holidays and noted that aside from cemeteries, security personnel will also monitor various transportation terminals.
“We have already started our coordination with other concerned agencies like local government units, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and officials of public cemeteries,” Eleazar said.
“Here in Metro Manila, we have 81 cemeteries and 30 columbaria that we are securing,” he added.
