Korean ‘bribes’ way to freedom
Immigration and police operatives are now on the hunt for a South Korean who escaped from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) detention facility in Taguig City along with a recaptured cohort.
The fugitive was identified as Choi Young Seop who had been tagged back in Korea for fraud and other crimes. Reliable BI sources told the Daily Tribune that Choi escaped by bribing some guards, a claim now being investigated.
The identity of the recaptured Korean who joined Choi in escaping was withheld pending the result of a probe. Choi’s escape was the third incident involving Korean nationals.
