Ex-PGMA banners this year’s real estate convention

Known economist and the country’s erstwhile chief executive, also former House Speaker and Pampanga representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, will be the keynote speaker of the upcoming 26th National Convention of the National Real Estate Association (NREA) on 16-17 June 2022, relaying her expertise on how the real estate segment bounce back after enduring the adverse effects of the persisting Covid-19 pandemic.

Badly impacted by the contagion, the real estate industry will try to find solutions on how they will recoup, as the convention puts together formidable minds and proposals on how to bring back the glory they enjoyed in the previous years.

Besides Arroyo, Secretary Eduardo del Rosario of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will also share his insights regarding this year’s conference theme “Real Estate: Roaring Into 2022 and Beyond.” Arroyo and Del Rosario are both honorary members of NREA.

The convention is an annual industry consultation on housing issues, as well as search for housing solutions, according to Architect Ma. Ysolde Flores Prado, NREA secretary general and overall convention chairperson.

Architect Ronie Biando, NREA national president, for his part, revealed the convention speakers and their respective presentation topics.

The first session of the virtual conference focuses on Transition: The Real Estate Outlook for Second Quarter, to be discussed by Joey Rodovan, the country head of Jones Lang Lasalle Philippines.

Also, updates in DHSUD’s real estate development regulations will be talked about by Atty. Angelito Aguila, officer-in-charge of the Housing and Real Estate Regulation Bureau of DHSUD, to be followed by updates on Professional Regulations Commission and Professional Regulatory Board for Real Estate Service (PRBRES) implementing resolutions and guidelines, to be facilitated by Ofelia Binag, chairperson of the PRBRES.

And as most businesses embrace digitization, the real estate segment also gears to attain this, as the third session of the conference tackles “New lifestyle in Real Estate: Gearing Up for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, to be facilitated by Dr. Rafaelita Aldaba, Undersecretary for Competitiveness and Innovation Group of the Department of Trade and Industry.

Dr. Mary Gaw So, president of the Real Estate Hub, will also discuss “Quality Spaces: Hybrid Work (Residential Office Market: “Humanizing the Workplace, Employee’s Health and Wellbeing; “100 New Cities by 2025 / The Philippines by 2050 / TOP 20 Economists of the World by 2050 / A First-World Country in 12 Years” by Architect and Urban Planner Felino Palafox Jr.; and “Accounting for Real Estate and other Updates” to be discussed by Bansan Choa, chairperson of Surewell Equities Inc. and former PRBRES Board Member.

The national convention committee includes convention co-chair and trustee, Architect Ruiza Anne April Diestro and members, Board chairperson Ricky Celis, Board vice chairperson Imelda Magtoto, vice president for Internal Affairs Flerida Atayde, trustee Jovi Francis Tupaz; adviser Marcelino Mendoza and the Secretariat.
