A retired principal and her grandchildren were stabbed by the old lady’s former employee, who robbed her Monday in Sta. Teresita, Cagayan.
The victims were identified as Mark (6) and Maria (5), who both died while being treated at the hospital. The principal was identified as Evelyn Perez (64), who is in critical condition after sustaining multiple stab wounds.
Teresita Police immediately arrested the suspect, who was later identified as Jerry Maba Genova, native of Calayan, and currently residing in Brgy. Villa.
The incident took place around 10:40 p.m. inside the victim’s house.
According to Evelyn, she went out of her house, and closed the door and the windows while her grandchildren were left in the bedroom sleeping.
When she returned inside, she noticed a knife-wielding man with a black bonnet, walking toward the room where her grandchildren were sleeping.
She immediately approached the suspect and pleaded him to leave. Instead, the suspect stabbed Evelyn and tied her hands with a cellphone charger.
The suspect went inside the children’s room and started to stab them repeatedly before rummaging through the closet where the old woman’s jewelries were kept.
Evelyn screamed for help and was immediately helped by her neighbors.
When the police arrived, victims were immediately rushed to the Gonzaga District Hospital, but the children died few minutes after arriving.
The suspect was immediately arrested during a manhunt operation at a farm where he was currently working near the aforementioned place.
Authorities also recovered Evelyn’s stolen jewelries.
It was learned that the suspect allegedly have a grudge against Evelyn after she fired him for allegedly stealing.
The suspect is now facing charges of Robbery with Homicide in relation to RA 7610, Frustrated Murder, while police also charged him Direct Assault, Resistance and Disobedience of Person in Authority or Agent of Person in Authority.
