DINGALAN, AURORA — A new structure is being constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to mitigate the flooding inside the Dingalan Feeder Port in Barangay Paltic of this town.
The DPWH Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO) is overseeing the construction of the P47.53-million project for optimal protection against coastal flooding, according to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan.
The 355-linear meter flood control structure will replace old gabion retaining walls inside the port that have been damaged by strong storms and deteriorated over the years. Targeted for completion by March 2023, the flood control structure will complement the existing concrete seawall at the feeder port in protecting residents from flooding and rising sea levels, especially during the typhoon season.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held recently, attended by District Engineer Roderick A. Andal and Aurora Lone District Representative Rommel Rico T. Angara.
The DPWH-Aurora District Engineering Office has also completed the construction of a road project in Barangay Matawe of this town. Per District Engineer Roderick Andal, the construction of the P9.8-million, 0.76-lane kilometer road was funded under the 2022 national budget and included the construction of a five-meter wide two-lane roadway, and stone masonry with line canal and cross drainage.
Andal said such road projects will contribute to the development of local communities and improve the living conditions of residents in these areas.
