BARMM inspects detention facilities

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) — through their Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committee (RJJWC) — visited detention facilities in Lanao del Sur to ensure that no minors were being detained by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and Municipal Police Stations.

The Ministry of Social Services and Development and the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission jointly lead the visitation of jails in that started on Monday until Friday.

MSSD-RJJWC head Naima Nor disclosed that her team visited the jail facility of Lanao del Sur Provincial Jail and the Municipal Police Stations of Marawi, Amai Manabilang, Wao and Marantao.

Representatives from Marawi City Public Attorneys, Police, and the local government unit also joined the monitoring activity.

According to Nor, the team also recognized the Lanao del Sur Provincial Jail’s good management by providing welfare and training as well as development programs for inmates.
