A member of the Daulah Islamiyah (DI)-Hassan Group was killed while another was apprehended during a gun battle with government forces in Barangay Dicalungan, Ampatuan, Maguindanao on Friday.
Troops of the Philippine Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion engaged the terror group after receiving reports of the latter’s operation in the area of responsibility of the 601st Infantry Brigade.
The DI-Hassan Group was led by alias “Alpha King.”
Recovered from the clash site were the remains of one DI fighter, a cal. 45 pistol, two improvised explosive devices and propaganda materials.
The slain fighter was later identified as Khamhed Akan Kambal, alias Mheds, the group’s bomb-making specialist.
State forces also arrested during the encounter one Nasrudin Sali Blah, 22, a resident of Tuayan, Ampatuan, Maguindanao. He was turned over to the local police for the filing of the appropriate charges.
