Pagunsan shoots 70 to share 9th

Juvic Pagunsan climbed into a share of ninth place after carding one-under-par 70 in the third round of the Japan PGA Championship at the Grand Fields Country Club in Shizouka, Japan Saturday.

The 44-year-old Filipino avoided the three-putts that hurt his round Friday, using his putter only 28 times on his way to a 54-hole total of 5-under 208.

He began his round with birdies on 1 and 3, but reached the turn on even par after bogeys on 5 and 9. He went home with birdies on 12 and 16 against a lone bogey on 15.

Japanese Mikumu Horikawa was alone on top on 14-under 199 after sizzling for 64.

Compatriot Terumichi Kakazu turned in a 67 to trail Horikawa by three on 202 while Tomoyo Ikemura and Taiki Yoshida were running third on 204.

Meanwhile, Miguel Tabuena shot two-under 70 to improve on joint 47th in the Mandiri Indonesia Open at the Pondok Indah golf course in Indonesia.

Tabuena sit on 4-under 212, 10 shots behind co-leaders Rashid Khan and Atiruj Winaicharoenchai who submitted 64 and 68, respectively.

Tabuena collected four birdies against two bogeys.
