US ornithologist ‘survives’ 102-km Death March solidarity run

Dr. Robert Kennedy, a 74-year-old ornithologist from New Hampshire and former Peace Corps volunteer, on 7 August joined and finished the 102-kilometer Bataan Death March solidarity run in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Kennedy served in the Philippines in the 1970s and was involved in Philippine Eagle conservation efforts.

On 7 August he ran with Filipino-American ultra-marathoner JC Sta. Teresa, holder of the Guinness record of the most number of consecutive ultramarathons.

They were welcomed at Kilometer 102 at the old San Fernando railway station by Mayor Vilma Caluag and Consul General Elmer Cato of the Philippine Consulate General in New York.
